Just to say that I went on this tour this afternoon and so enjoyed it! The guide was Molly and she really made the tour interesting with her knowledge, humour and anecdotes; all of which combined to bring the pictures to life and tell their stories. I saw so much more than I would have done if I had gone alone. You have a great guide in Molly – thanks!

We joined Margaret on July 2, 2010 for a wonderful grand tour of the National Gallery. Margaret is very knowledgeable about the art work and the artists. She pieces together the history and points out the likeness from one artist to the next. She shows you the similarities between the artists.

The day we were there around 16 people showed up which was less than the National Gallery gets for its free tour. That way each person was able to huddle and clearly see the paintings Margaret was going to talk about. We covered a good deal of material in the two hours. Loved the tour and Margaret's accent was just wonderful too!

I never expected to write one of these reviews, but this particular walking tour did not have any, which was a shame. I have done about 6 or 7 walks with this company and they all have been good (particularly the Jack Ripper walk) but this was by far my favorite. I was led by Margaret who shared an unbelievable passion and expertise in regards to the artwork, the history behind the pieces and the influences of each painter. She wove an amazing story throughout the walk showing how certain paintings set the stage and influenced later artists, then pointing out nods to earlier works in those later pieces. It was fascinating, educational and will be quite enduring. The british museum tour had more of the "headline" pieces (rosetta stone, elgin marbles, etc.) but i found this museum to be more rewarding. cheers!
